The Origin
Every line in this board was put there by hand.
The geometric inlay pattern you see is not printed, painted, or applied after the fact. It is built into the wood itself — maple and purpleheart strips joined, pressed, and finished into a single piece that will not separate, fade, or wear away. This is the difference between something made and something manufactured.
Combat Wounded Designs was started by a combat wounded Army veteran who picked up woodworking as a way to heal. What began as a single custom cutting board made for a fellow vet became the foundation of this brand. Every board we make carries that origin.
The Wood
The maple and purpleheart combination is not decorative coincidence. Maple is one of the hardest domestic hardwoods — dense, tight-grained, and built for daily use. Purpleheart is an exotic South American hardwood with a natural deep burgundy color that requires no stain. Together they produce a board that is as functional as it is striking.

Specifications

- Care: Hand wash only. Re-oil periodically with food-safe mineral oil.
Care Instructions
Hand wash with warm soapy water. Do not soak, submerge, or place in the dishwasher — this will damage the wood and open the joints over time.
Dry immediately after washing. Do not leave standing water on the surface.
Re-oil every 4–6 weeks with food-safe mineral oil or a beeswax board cream. Apply generously, let it soak in for a few hours, then wipe off the excess.
Keep away from direct heat sources and prolonged direct sunlight. Treat this board right and it will last decades.
